Many dismiss the resurrection as a story invented by the disciples but all evidence however points to Christ raising from the dead. What we have in the Gospels is a record of the facts of how the women found the empty tomb.
1. A ministry to perform
2. A problem to surmount
3. When Christ died is was dark for about three hours, but it was no ordinary darkness caused by an eclipse or dust storm. It was a supernatural darkness. The God who established the laws of nature suspended them for three hours and he did so for a purpose. The darkness sent out a powerful message, a powerful message of judgement. The sins of God's people were being laid upon Christ on the cross. An unusual, agonising cry was heard from the cross.
1. A cry that underlines the curse of sin
2. A cry that emphasises the son's faith in the father
3. A cry which illustrates the saviours love for His people

We know of Christians in many parts of the world who are under constant persecution. We say of such people that they have a heavy cross to carry. On a Friday morning over 2000 years ago there was a man called upon to carry His literal cross. Simon was randomly selected to carry Christ's cross but he was affected by it and became a believer. Christ was nailed to the cross and as he hung there to die many of His enemies made comments -
1. The cruel actions of the soldiers
2. The cynical inscription of Pilate
3. The insulting comments of His enemies

The accused is presumed innocent until clear and irrefutable evidence is produced. The Jews had their courts of justice and their highest court was the Sanhedrin. There had very strict rules to guard against any miscarriage of justice. During the Roman occupation they couldn't carry out the death sentence. As Christ was brought before the Sanhedrin we discover certain things about this particular sitting -
1. The hypocrisy of the Sanhedrin
2. One of the disciples drew attention to the splendour of the temple but Christ informed them that the temple was to be destroyed. Sometimes it's hard to know where obedience fits into a Christian's life. We are not saved by keeping the law and therefore sometimes Christians err in grasping the point. We think the law has no relevance which couldn't be further from the truth. We are challenged to be perfect as the father is perfect.
