About Us

Our History

The Reformed Presbyterian (Covenanter) denomination traces its roots to the Reformation in Scotland in the 16th century. Persecutuion was experienced because of the Stuart Kings' hostility to Presbyterianism. In such testing circumstances our church pledged inself in solemn covenant to remain loyal to Christ and His word - hence the name Covenanter.

The Lisburn congregation was organised in 1982 and from small beginnings we have grown through the help and blessing of Christ.

What We Believe….

  • That the Bible is the Word of God and the only basis upon which to establish one's faith and life.
  • That there is only one God, the creator of heaven and earth.
  • That everyone is born a sinner and, as such, is under God's just condemnation.
  • That God's son, Jesus Christ, is the only one who can rescue us from our sin and its consequences..
  • That every true Christian will seek, to live a life pleasing to God.
  • That Jesus Christ is the King of all nations and should be acknowledged as such by all.
  • That these islands in which we live are under God's holy judgment for having broken the promise to live by the Bible.
